Who we are

The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) was organized on September 6, 1989, and chartered on November 14, 1989, under the principles of Kiwanis International, a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. It forms part of Division 23 East, one of five Divisions in Jamaica and is the first all-female Kiwanis Club.

Members comprise a group of professional and businesswomen who came together to give service.  Membership has grown from the 69 Charter Members to 153 members to date and has achieved distinguished status in the Kiwanis International movement for all but one year, with a record of outstanding leadership, achievement, and service to the society.

Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis Club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Each year, Kiwanis members stage nearly 150,000 service projects, devote more than 18.5 million hours of service and raise nearly US$100 million for communities, families and projects.

Over the years we have focused on improving literacy, supporting health initiatives and caring for the elderly. As a Club we provide opportunities for at risk youth in vulnerable communities, deepen scholarships in schools, and build leadership and entrepreneurial skills among young men and women.

We have done major projects of national importance from building or refurbishing schools and Children’s Homes to donation of medical equipment to hospitals and organizations.

Kiwanis members don’t just do service!!!! We have fun! Members meet new friends within their Club and by attending other Club’s meetings, social events, Divisional, District and International Conventions.

Mission

Kiwanis helps kids around the world. Local clubs look out for our communities and the international organization takes on large-scale challenges, such as fighting disease and poverty.
