The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) supported the Division’s One Day Project to plant trees in support of the theme “Three Million Trees in Three Years”.  Plants for the project were received through the Division, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the UWI Biotechnology Centre, which was organized by Director Nadia Roxburgh.

Two Student Leadership Programmes (SLPs) were facilitated on Thursday, October 21, 2021, the Webster Memorial Basic School and Liguanea Preparatory School.  At the Webster Memorial Basic School, the plants were handed over to the Principal Mrs. Kayan Russell-Temple. This was followed by a tree planting on the grounds of the Liguanea Preparatory School.  The Principal, Dr Paulette McGreggor, President Jhenell Allen, and other KCNK Leaders and Members came out to support the project.

On Saturday, October 23, 2021, the Kiwanis team visited three SLPs which included the Edward Seaga Primary (formerly Denham Town Primary), Denham Town High School, Edna Manley College of the Performing, and Visual Arts, and The Golden Age Home for the Project.  The Project began at 11:00 a.m. and ended at 3:00 p.m. and included fun and fellowship with members of the KCNK members, school advisors, guests, and members of our Service Leadership Program (SLP).  Members of the team helped with preparing the area for planting and the planting of the trees with the assistance of the SLPs. Lt. Governor Walter-J Davis also took part in the planting at the Denham Town High School and provided media coverage with members from the LASCO Chin Foundation.
